Your Care Management Physician Certification

As a professional holding a CMPC, you must meet specified requirements in order to maintain and renew your certification every 5 years. The purpose of certification renewal is to provide evidence that you have continued expanding your professional knowledge and demonstrate continued competency in your field.

Certification says a lot about you! Your CMPC credential:

Demonstrates your engagement. Earning your certification through APLCM shows your peers, supervisors, and patients your commitment to your chosen career and the case management profession at-large, as well as your ability to perform to set standards.

Strengthens the profession's image. The CMPC credential seeks to grow, promote, and develop certified professionals who can serve as role models for quality clinical practice as physician advisors and physician leaders in case management.

Validates your accomplishments. Certification reflects personal achievement because you have validated your skillset, specific to the job role you perform, by meeting the set standard.

Builds your marketability. Certification via the CMPC is a step toward defining yourself beyond a job description or academic degree while gaining a sense of personal satisfaction.

Provides recognition. As a CMPC holder, expect increased an acknowledgment from your peers for staying on top of best practices through education and training in your professional career.

Recertification Requirements

The CMPC credential is valid for a five (5) year period. Forty (40) hours of continuing medical education are required to recertify.

NOTE: One (1) continuing education credit (CE) equals one (1) 60-minute hour.

Continuing Education for Recertification Approved APLCM educational programs must be sponsored, presented or approved by one of the APLCM-accepted approving organizations, and include courses for which the content/subject matter is specific to either (A) health care delivery case management or (B) related to the practice of healthcare in the credential holder's field of practice.

Maintain and Renew Your Certification Online

CMPC-certified professionals can maintain and renew their certification through their APLCM Certification Portal by simply logging in and selecting the “Recertification” tab. Continuing education information and documents can be added manually, or if earned through APLCM-sponsored opportunities, they can be imported quickly and easily.

Prior to the expiration of your credential, be sure to log into your portal to ensure all information is up-to-date and that continuing education information provided meets the renewal requirements. You will be required to sign an attestation and submit payment information online before submitting your recertification for approval.

Please be aware that APLCM-certified professionals may be subject to random audits of compliance with the credential requirements and to keep copies of any continuing education certificates earned for future reference.
